AIPT, www.aipt.org/progintl-companies.htm. Nonprofit AIPT’s Career Development Program can assist university graduates who find their own position abroad with work permits for up to 18 months in Mexico.

COUNCIL Work in Canada and Costa Rica Programs, www.ciee.org. Work exchange program for students and recent graduates issues work permits and provides job search assistance.

Goinglobal, www.goinglobal.com, presents a fine overview and realistic assessment of employment trends, job resources, resume and interviewing advice, as well as information about specific professions in Brazil. They also sell resource guides in .pdf or print which provide inside information about job possibilities not readily available in the public domain.

Grupo Bumeran, www.bumeran.com.mx, the largest online resource for employment in Mexico (in Spanish).

HISPANIC Online, Career Links, www.hisp.com/carlinks.html by Hispanic magazine. Lots of information about jobs and careers for Spanish speakers, though this site’s job bank lists few overseas positions.

International Cooperative Education Program, www.icemenlo.com. ICEP and FoothillCollege offer paid summer internships in Argentina, Brazil, or Chile for students and recent graduates who have studied Spanish or Portuguese. Apply by January.

IIE Internship in Mexico City, www.iie.org/latinamerica. The Institute of International Education (IIE) offers 3-month paid internships at its advising center in Mexico City. Email to iie@profmexis.sar.net for details.

Job In The Sun, www.jobinthesun.com. A leading Caribbean recruitment portal, with numerous head-hunters, recruitment agencies and employers searching an interactive database of resumes. Hundreds of overseas jobs are listed in the Caribbean region and one can apply directly online. Features expat forums, chat rooms, relocation guides, travel information and 24 / 7 customer support.

LatPro: Latin America’s Professional Network, www.latpro.com. Positions in Latin America and the U.S. for professionals who are bilingual in Spanish or Portuguese. All positions require previous experience.

Peace Corps, www.peacecorps.gov. More U.S. citizens work in Latin American and the Caribbean through the Peace Corps than through any other organization.

South American Explorer’s, www.samexplo.org. Nonprofit organization produces a guide to volunteering in South America (hard copy only, but inexpensive). Site includes links to volunteer organizations as well as employment opportunities.
